The CIECH Group – the largest producer of evaporated salt in Poland, is about to introduce more salt products to its offer. In Janikowo near Inowrocław, CIECH will expand its existing salt production plant with a new line for the production of salt granules (which are used for manufacturing dishwasher salt among other uses) and salt licks for farm animals. Both new products will expand the Group's portfolio of salt products, which now includes both table and industrial salt as well as salt in tablet form. The planned investment value will exceed 30 million PLN.

¬ We are consistently expanding our portfolio of specialist products. The decisions to invest in the production of salt granules for dishwashers and salt for farm animals were preceded by a careful analysis of the market. Our plants were built using the latest, most efficient technologies, which will allow us to obtain the highest quality products, stated Artur Osuchowski, Member of the Board of CIECH S.A.

Salt granules are used for water treatment (water softening), for instance, in dishwashers and other household appliances which have become increasingly popular in Central and Eastern Europe. CIECH wants to offer the granules as both a raw material and a private label brand product to be sold in retail chains.

- By expanding our product portfolio with granular salt, we have strengthened our market position in the segment of water treatment products. At the moment we offer salt tablets – we are the largest producer in Poland and one of the largest in Europe, with a well-established market position. The introduction of the new product is a result of the CIECH Group 's deliberate strategy to develop specialised products, stated Damian Kowenicki, Member of the Board of CIECH Soda Polska and the Head of the “Salt” Business Unit.

The other new salt product to be introduced by CIECH are salt licks used in animal husbandry. They provide the animals with the necessary sodium and chlorine ions, which improves the efficiency and productivity of animal production. It is worth stressing that in temperate climates, supplementing the diet of animals with salt is very important, especially in the summer and while feeding juveniles. According to Eurostat data, Poland is among the countries with the largest population of cattle and dairy cows.

- The offer of salt lick will be targeted directly at end customers in the Agro business (large-scale breeders and feed manufacturers). We will use the presence and recognition of the CIECH brand among farmers and breeders to build a solid market position and consolidate the long-term customer relationships of CIECH Sarzyna, stated Damian Kowenicki.

The CIECH Group already offers products for cattle and pig farmers: feed salt and sodium bicarbonate (under the Sobic Feed brand), manufactured by CIECH Soda Polska. In addition, another member company of the CIECH Group, CIECH Sarzyna is the largest producer of plant protection products in Poland, and is also present globally, in as many as 40 countries.

Both the granules and licks will be produced in the plants in Janikowo near Inowrocław. The plant in Janikowo produces over 1500 tonnes of salt daily in a 24/7 system. Its range of salt products includes the popular salt brand Sól Kujawska, available in numerous retail chains in Poland. Salt products of the CIECH Group are also available in Western and Central Europe and the Scandinavian countries. The plant possesses numerous certificates that confirm the highest quality of production, including FSCC 22000 certifying table salt production safety.
