An innovative plant protection product manufactured by CIECH Sarzyna - Halvetic 180 SL - had a very successful market debut. Launched in spring 2021, the product strengthened the company's position in the segment of glyphosate-based plant protection products and currently accounts approx. for a 20-percent share in this part of the market. At the same time, the number of countries in which Halvetic has already been registered is also increasing - apart from Poland, these countries include: Greece, Portugal, Australia and the Czech Republic. CIECH Sarzyna, the largest Polish manufacturer of plant protection products, has also obtained funding from the National Centre for Research and Development (“NCBiR”) for a new technology project for the production of this innovative agent, which will enable shortening the time of its production. Completion of research work and implementation of the new method are planned for 2023.

Halvetic 180 SL is a plant protection product against weeds, which was developed based on the innovative BGT (“Better Glyphosate Technology”), registered in Poland by CIECH Sarzyna in February last year. It allows you to maintain the current effectiveness of the product while reducing the dose of active substance per hectare by half compared to the existing market standard. It is a breakthrough on the global market of glyphosate formulations, and at the same time, the CIECH Group's response to the challenges related to the transformation of agriculture towards a more sustainable model. The effectiveness of the innovative BGT technology has been documented by numerous studies – carried out both in Polish and European conditions.

- Halvetic has been very well received by the market, as evidenced by both customer feedback and hard figures. Currently, processes for the registration of the product are underway outside Poland, which we have scheduled for the next few years. The currently developed, new and more efficient production technology is to support us In the expansion on the domestic and foreign markets – says Wojciech Babski, President of the Management Board of CIECH Sarzyna and head of the AGRO business in the CIECH Group.

The project, as part of which a new production method will be developed, scored the maximum number of points in a competition organised by the NCBiR. The obtained co-financing amounted to PLN 6 million, and the value of the entire project is nearly PLN 15 million. The contract for the implementation of the project was signed at the end of September 2021. The source of co-financing is funds from the European Union, obtained under the Smart Growth Operational Programme for 2014-2020. Measure 1.1 R&D projects of enterprises. Sub-measure 1.1.1 Industrial research and development work implemented by enterprises. The completion of research work and the commencement of production using the new method are planned for 2023.

Halvetic is manufactured in the CIECH’s plant protection product factory in Nowa Sarzyna, Podkarpackie Province. It has been sold on the Polish market since May 2021, and for this purpose the company uses its extensive distribution network of 1,000 points of sale and its cooperation with 30 distributors.

At the same time, CIECH Sarzyna is carrying out registration processes in other European countries. Ultimately, as a global brand of CIECH, Halvetic is to reach over a dozen countries in Europe, Australia, and in the future - also North and South America. Market analyses indicate that the size of the glyphosate market for Europe is approximately USD 300 million, Australia - USD 200 million, and for the Americas - up to USD 3 billion in total.

Halvetic is a non-selective herbicide in the form of a concentrate for the preparation of an aqueous solution, applied directly to the leaves (foliar application) and intended to control a very wide spectrum of monocotyledonous and dicotyledonous annual and perennial weeds. It is dedicated to farmers who appreciate fast and lasting herbicidal effectiveness, while maintaining greater care for the environment. The effect of the product is reliable - its effectiveness remains unchanged even with the use of hard water and under conditions causing plant stress. The product is effective in combating numerous weeds, it can be used after harvesting various crops and in stubble fields, for pre-emergence weed control in corn, as well as orchards and non-agricultural areas.
