CIECH R&D to partner a science and research conference "Science: Polish Perspectives"

On 8 and 9 November this year, an interdisciplinary conference, “Science: Polish Perspectives”, was held at the University of Cambridge, targeted at Polish researchers working outside Poland. With over 200 participants, the event was an opportunity to exchange research experience, present the latest research work and trends, and for practical workshops and meetings with the science supporting business. One of the partners of the event partner was the company CIECH R&D, responsible for innovations in the CIECH Group.

Representatives of the CIECH Group participated in the event in a very active manner, talking about the need for innovation in the chemical industry, CO2 reduction or cooperation with universities and start-ups, and Dr. Bernhard Müller, Head of Future Business and Innovation at CIECH R&D, gave a presentation on the role of chemistry and chemical industry in solving global challenges.

Cooperation with scientific communities, predominantly, in the open-innovation formula, is one of the elements of the CIECH Group’s innovation development strategy. As part of it, we are also actively searching for new CIECH businesses, investing in promising technological start-ups, and we also carry out global crowdsourcing campaigns, in which we engage researchers and engineers from around the world – says Aleksandra Janusz, President of the Management Board of CIECH R&D.

Organised since 2012,“Science: Polish Perspectives” (the “SPP”) is an interdisciplinary conference targeted at Polish researchers working abroad. It is organised by the Polonium Foundation whose purpose is to develop and conduct research into the Polish scientific community abroad, and to maximise its potential.

SPP conferences are held annually, alternately in Oxford or Cambridge, and since 2017, in response to the growing interest in the SPP idea from Polish scientists from German-speaking countries, also in Berlin. At the same time, the Polonium Foundation supports scientists in organising smaller local SPP Meetup events that so far have been held in Stockholm, Delft, Florence and New York.
