Another CIECH Vitrosilicon investment –new warehouse in Żary in 2023

CIECH Vitrosilicon, one of Europe's leading producers and a sales leader in sodium silicate, plans to build a new warehouse. The modern facility will be built in 2023 in Żary's plant. It remains another significant development project for CIECH Vitrosilicon, following the launch of a modern and energy-efficient furnace for melting vitreous sodium silicate in 2021. The value of the investment was PLN 80 million, and the production capacity of the CIECH Group's Silicates business increased by 30 percent due to the new asset.

The construction of CIECH Vitrosilicon's new warehouse, which will cost about PLN 4 million, is a natural consequence of a significant increase in the production capacity of the plant in Żary. In addition to increasing warehouse space and streamlining logistics processes, the facility will significantly contribute to reducing dust and noise emissions associated with the factory's work. Logistics work will be moved to the newly built facility, and the building itself will act as a sound barrier and isolate the loading section from the close vicinity. Moreover, CIECH Vitrosilicon will install specialized dust removal facilities.

- The new warehouse is not only an increase of 100 percent of the existing storage space, but also a reduction in dust and noise levels. The investment remains in line with our philosophy of being a good neighbor, as it will have a positive impact on the surroundings of the production facility. We are currently conducting preparatory work, and the construction work will start at the beginning of October this year and will be completed in 2023 – says Robert Janeczko, President of the Management Board of CIECH Vitrosilicon.

CIECH Vitrosilicon is also working on initiatives that will help it maintain its competitive edge in a challenging environment, primarily to meet the challenges of the raw materials market. Żary plant's alternative source of energy will be a new LPG supply line, which is designed to increase the safety of the plant in the event of a significant reduction or unavailability of natural gas.

- Our furnaces require only minor adjustments to switch to alternative fuel. This will strengthen the safety of our plant and give us the ability to respond to rapid changes in the raw materials market – says Robert Janeczko.

The company's technologists and engineers also work on increasing production efficiency and reducing raw material consumption. One of the flagship projects is the recovery of energy from silicate smelting flue gases and its subsequent conversion into electricity, which can fulfill the energy needs of the entire plant. Such initiatives stem from the consistent implementation of the CIECH Group's ESG strategy, which addresses, among others, climate neutrality and development without increasing energy consumption.

CIECH Vitrosilicon is Europe's largest supplier of sodium silicates, which is essential in the production of precipitated silica - an important ingredient used in the tires and cosmetics industries. In addition, sodium silicates are used in the production of detergents, paper and zeolites. The company also produces potassium silicates, used in the production of welding electrodes or construction chemicals.

CIECH Vitrosilicon has two production facilities - in Żary and Iłowa, where it employs more than 100 people. In addition to Europe, the company also exports silicates to Asia and North America.
