CIECH Group’s table salt from German saltworks with the prestigious International Food Standard certificate

CIECH Salz has obtained the prestigious International Food Standard certificate, which indicates the highest quality of table salt production. Moreover, the certificate confirms compliance with maintaining all procedures related to the operation of the new saltworks in Stassfurt. Now the IFS certificate remains the next significant step in the expansion of CIECH products in the Western European markets after CIECH’S salt from Stassfurt was recognized for meeting the HACCP standards (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points). On top of that, obtaining IFS certificate significantly expands the base of potential customers for salt produced in the saltworks in Germany.

IFS is the most recognizable certificate among international food safety standards. It is awarded after the successful completion of an audit, which covers all stages of production, transportation, warehousing, and examining the procedures at the factory. The certificate is acclaimed by the largest corporations, including the FMCG industry, among others.

- Obtaining a certificate for table salt is an important element in building the salt brand in the European market. In this way, CIECH strengthens the operational salt business, which allows customers an access to IFS-certified salt from two of our factories - says Andrzej Dawidowski, Head of the Salt Business of CIECH Group.

The saltworks plant in Janikowo, Kujawy region, has a production capability of 500,000 tonnes per year and also dispose an IFS certificate. On the other hand, the saltworks in Stassfurt, established in 2021, aim to produce approximately 450 thousand tons of salt yearly. The saltworks produce salt tablets and plan to manufacture pharmaceutical salt over time.

- IFS confirms the highest quality standard of salt production in the CIECH factory.  During audits, there is a greater emphasis on accessing the food safety system in production areas and warehouses and a lesser emphasis on documentation verification. Companies with a valid IFS certificate must also accept unannounced inspections, which indicates readiness to subject the entire process to a detailed examination at any time. Thereby, the certificate is a guarantee of the highest quality for our customers and proof of strict compliance with the procedures - says Danuta Paduch, Quality Manager of CIECH Group.

In addition to the IFS certificate, the CIECH Group owns, among others, a GMP certificate in the area of baking soda (including the usage of products in the pharmaceutical industry), as well as a Kosher certificate (compliance with Jewish law), and a Halal certificate (compliance with Muslim law) in the area of salt and soda production.
