An innovative plant protection product in the offer of CIECH Sarzyna - Halvetic - enters yet another foreign market. Slovak farmers will soon have access to it. Thus, the country will join the group of nine other, besides Poland, European markets, incl. Romania, Spain, Greece or Portugal, where farmers can use the potential of Halvetic in the process of sustainable transformation of agriculture. Apart from the Old Continent, this herbicide is also registered in Australia. 

Halvetic is a herbicide based on glyphosate, based on the innovative and patented BGT ("Better Glyphosate Technology”^®), which ensures the current high effectiveness of the active substance to be maintained while reducing its dose per hectare by half compared to the existing standards. It is not only the largest innovation among non-selective herbicides in the world and a breakthrough in the global market of glyphosate formulations, but also the CIECH Group's response to the challenges related to the transformation of agriculture in line with the assumptions of the EU strategy "From Farm to Fork", consisting in the reduction of the use of plant protection products by 50 percent by 2030. European regulations mean an increase in the demand for new products characterised by greater efficiency and effectiveness.

In 2021, Halvetic made a very successful debut in Poland, strengthening the position of CIECH Sarzyna in the glyphosate segment, in which the company has a share of about 50%. The brand development strategy also assumes intensive foreign expansion. Over a period of just one year, Halvetic obtained marketing authorisations, incl. in Romania, Latvia, Lithuania, Greece and the Czech Republic. However, further product registration processes are underway, including in Italy, United Kingdom, Ireland, Estonia, Cyprus or Argentina, which may be completed within a few quarters. 

Along with Romania, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Lithuania, Poland and Bulgaria, Slovakia belongs to the group of countries in which agricultural land is the largest component of the land use structure, accounting for 40 to nearly 60 percent of the country area ¹. The most important cultivation area in Slovakia is the Danubian Flat in the south-west. In the lowlands of the country, there are fertile soils (brown and black soil, and rendzina), where, among others, wheat, corn, barley, sugar beet, fruits and vegetables are grown. The most commonly grown grain in Slovakia is wheat - it is estimated that its harvest is about 2 million tonnes per year ².

As part of the Group's strategy for 2022-2024, CIECH Sarzyna plans, among others, to introduce new innovative products and offer modern services for farmers, developed in cooperation with external partners.
