CIECH implements Honeywell Forge Advanced Process Control to drive digital transformation

CIECH Group has selected Honeywell Forge software platform to increase digitalization and drive operating efficiency at two of CIECH’s soda ash factories in Europe.

As one of Europe’s largest chemical industrial companies with production focused on soda, salt, agro, resins, silicates, packaging and foams, CIECH is digitally transforming its business to lower operating costs and improve profitability.

CIECH has selected Honeywell Forge Advanced Process Control, Honeywell’s process control and optimization software product, for lifecycle maintenance and real-time performance monitoring at soda production plants in Inowroclaw, Poland and Stassfurt, Germany. Honeywell Forge Advanced Process Control will be deployed across most stages of soda production, e.g. carbonization, calcination, filtration and distillation. The system selects production parameters for individual line elements and increases production efficiency and optimizes resource consumption.

Honeywell Forge Advanced Process Control will give CIECH necessary data and real-time monitoring now to help optimize operations, which will support CIECH to achieve its goal of increasing operating margins. The impact on the efficiency of soda production will be fully visible in 2021 at the plants in Stassfurt and Inowroclaw.

Our strategy is focused, among others, on effectiveness of the production in our soda business, powered by the cutting-edge solutions provided by world-leading companies. We are excited to cooperate with Honeywell on Honeywell Forge Advanced Process Control implementation because it is an important part of how we are transforming our soda operations with digital insights. Our goal is to limit deviations in soda production processes, which enable us to be more efficient and to preserve more resources, raw materials and reduce the emission of greenhouse gases in order to be more sustainable,” said Miroslaw Skowron, Member of the CIECH Management Board.

Honeywell Forge Advanced Process Control is part of the Process Performance Management suite of industrial-focused products in Honeywell Forge, an Enterprise Performance Management tool. It helps enterprises measure, optimize and track their operations from the edge to the cloud. It also has a layered approach involving multiple technologies and processes that optimize productivity and profitability at every stage of the lifecycle.

CIECH is harnessing the value that Honeywell Forge Advanced Process Control can bring to its soda operations, through industry-leading performance management capabilities that ensure manufacturing processes run more efficiently” said Ronald Binkofski, president, Central East Europe, Honeywell. “The deployment is the perfect example of how digital transformation solutions like the Honeywell Forge platform can unlock previously inaccessible value from operations to drive greater productivity and growth”.
